Surgical Treatment; The thyroid gland is a butterfly-shaped organ located in the anterior part of the neck just below the cartilage called the Adam’s apple. It secretes hormones that are vital for our body.
Goiter occurs as a result of the enlargement of the thyroid gland due to various reasons. Generally, this growth occurs in the form of nodules of varying sizes in the thyroid gland. The thyroid is checked in front of a mirror to see if there is any mass in the thyroid gland.
It should also be checked whether there is any enlargement or swelling just below the Adam’s Apple in the anterior part of the neck. These checks should be done with the head leaning back. If enlargement or swelling is observed in this area, a physician should be consulted.
